David’s career has spanned 40+ years, early-on as a CPA in public practice, and then as an executive in finance, accounting, and risk management positions with both public and private companies. David currently serves as Vice President and CFO at Star of Hope Mission in Houston, Texas.
David, a second-generation native Houstonian, graduated with honors from Houston Christian University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Management. He then began his career with Arthur Andersen LLP in Houston, where was an audit manager. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
David has a life-long passion for working with not-for-profits serving the community. He currently serves as a director and past Chair of the Houston-based Oldham Little Church Foundation, having joined the Board in February 2006. He also serves as a director of the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado, where he chairs the finance committee. He previously served on the Houston Christian University Board of Trustees from 1994 to 2003 and again from 2004 to 2013, including service as Chair in 2000-2001. He is a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he and his wife Carla are active volunteers.
