Did you know that in Houston, peer support programs for alcohol and drug abuse recovery offer important diversion alternatives to jail time for area residents? At the Houston Recovery Center, we believe that law enforcement and medical personnel in emergency rooms already have their hands full with other urgent cases.

Instead of managing intoxication in those higher-risk environments, we offer an alternative that supports wellness through peer support programs for alcohol and drug abuse recovery in Houston.

Peer support is a key element of our recovery process because we know clients benefit from added help. Our peer specialists are certified professionals who have struggled with and overcome their own substance abuse concerns, making them the cornerstone of our peer support programs for alcohol and drug abuse recovery in Houston. The Houston Recovery Center designed this program to wrap our clients in community services, offering the holistic approach that helps them achieve sobriety for good.

How our peer support programs for alcohol and drug abuse recovery work

Many sobering facilities in the United States offer short-term, acute support that may assist immediately, but fail to offer long-term recovery support. At the Houston Recovery Center, our peer support programs for alcohol and drug abuse recovery allow clients in Houston to partner with peer specialists for a full 18-month, community-based rehabilitation plan. Here is how it works:

  • First, the client visits for sobering help for anywhere from four to six hours, or they can just walk in and ask for assistance.
  • Then, if the client is amenable to seeking additional help, they are placed in our peer support program for alcohol and drug abuse recovery in Houston.
  • Clients are assigned a case manager and peer support specialist who offer intensive interventions for the first six months.
  • After that, peers provide additional recovery support for up to another year

Houston Recovery Center offers Houston peer support programs for alcohol and drug abuse recovery that stick with clients through thick and thin. Whether this is their first attempt to recover or their 50th, we are there to help them feel better and regain control.
