Looking to create ‘pathways to recovery’ at Sobering Center

Approved by Houston City Council last May, the Sobering Center looks to save money and time by not booking public intoxication offenders into jail, allowing officers to return to patrol more quickly.

“It’s really not so much about saving money as it is redeploying manpower,” Kincaid said.

But the center’s primary purpose is helping people find the treatment they need.
