Meet Timothy

Timothy asked for recovery assistance from Houston Recovery Center at age 49, after 31 years of drinking. He had completed a treatment program but was still homeless, which is a clear barrier to sustained recovery. His PART team referred him to the Men at Work program at Star of Hope, which provides temporary housing while training clients to develop job skills. He used his training to get a job working as a chef for a local country club, and his PART and Star of Hope teams celebrated by giving him a new set of kitchen knives and a chef coat. Because he is a veteran, his team was also able to help him obtain a housing voucher through the Department of Veterans Affairs, enabling him to search for permanent housing of his own.
