How our resources help Texas homeless assistance programs
Here at the Houston Recovery Center, 88 percent of the clients who we work with are homeless. They either come in to our facility on their own, or they are referred to our facility by medical professionals or law enforcement.
Our services are particularly crucial to the larger success of homeless assistance programs in Texas because of how common substance use disorder is in the homeless population. Substance use disorder in the homeless population can result in:
- Spending an already limited income on drugs and alcohol
- Making it difficult to hold a job
- Developing and exacerbating medical and mental health conditions
